Whale Watching

Whale watching at Merimbula is as good as it gets. These gentle giants of the sea, majestic humpback whales, migrate past here from September to November.

On their journey from the northern waters where they give birth, to their feeding grounds in the Antarctic, whale mothers bring their newborn calves slowly along the NSW coastline passing close to local towns including Merimbula and Eden.  It’s rare not to see whales within a few minutes after take-off and with sighting success rates exceeding 98% last year, a whale watching flight at Merimbula is an unforgettable, lifetime experience.

Air Sapphire’s aircraft allow excellent viewing and provide the fastest possible means of getting you to and from the whale viewing areas so that more of your valuable holiday time is spent actually watching and photographing whales.  You are provided with aviation headsets for your comfort and so that you can hear the in-flight commentary of your pilot.

Why would you choose anywhere else to experience the splendour of whale watching!

It really does not matter if you have seen whales before, the thrill of looking down on a 40 tonne creature or seeing them playfully slap their flukes or tail or to see them breach out of the water is to experience one of the world's true wonders.
